Chisinau concerned about unilateral actions taken by Tiraspol

The official Chisinau expresses its concern about the developments caused by the unilateral actions taken by the Transnistrian administration. In particular, it refers to the recent decision by which some categories of inhabitants of the Transnistrian region are obliged to pay new charges for public utilities, cases of confiscation of Moldovan license numbers from units of transport, including from buses of Moldovan-administered, Latin-script schools working in the region, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Reintegration Office, the Moldovan authorities consider that these actions are an attempt to exert pressure on the Transnistrian people, which can lead to the premeditated worsening of the living conditions in the region and of the atmosphere of trust between the two banks of the Nistru. In order not to allow the situation to become tense and taking into account the recommendations of the international partners in the negotiation process, Chisinau reiterates the call to the representatives of Tiraspol to stop any unilateral action. The Moldovan authorities express their firm conviction that any aspect or initiative concerning the relation between the two banks of the Nistru must be discussed within the existing mechanisms so as to work out common approaches and take balanced and responsible decisions based on them. The political representative of the Transnistrian administration to the talks in the 5+2 format and the international partners were informed about this situation.
