The Chisinau City Hall in the near future will open 20 stores selling social bread. The announcement was made by mayor Ion Ceban in a news conference, IPN reports.

The mayor said the project will be implemented in the wake of Franzeluța’s announcement that it will increase the prices of the whole assortment of bread it makes, except for social bread.

Ion Ceban didn’t specify who will make the social bread for the 20 stores and with what funds and how much this bread will cost.

The largest bakery of Moldova SA “Franzeluța” on February 1 announced it intends to raise the prices of all the types of bread it makes, except for social bread. The company said the price rises are inevitable as the current bread prices do not cover production costs. In reaction, PSRM issued a press release, calling on the Government to take measures.
