Chisinau City Hall presents 20 German snowploughs
Chisinau City Hall presented Tuesday, January 2, the 20 snow removing cars and sanitation equipment recently purchased from the German Company SHMIT. Along with the capital’s City Hall, President Vladimir Voronin, Premier Vasile Tarlev, members of the Council of Ministers were present at the ceremony.
Interim mayor Vasile Ursu asserted that in lack of snow the respective units will sanitise the access roads, including pavements and roads in the districts. The transport units will be supervised by the General Dwelling-communal Division. Each district of the city will receive four means of transport. Ursu said that another 20 snowploughs will be purchased in 2007.
MDL 39 mln were allocated from the state and municipal budget to purchase the snowploughs. The snow removing vehicles are guaranteed for one year, and the City Hall will sign with the German firm a contract on their maintenance. From early December, when the equipment arrived in Chisinau, up to present, the firm’s representatives have instructed the personnel that will deal with the snowploughs.
Head of the general dwelling-communal Division, Mihai Solcan, told earlier Info-Prim Neo that the City Hall intends to purchase 50-60 modern snow removing cars in the future from the specialized firms in the Western Europe. As Solcan says, the City Hall does not have at present specialized snowploughs, and only 500 employees of 1150 are involved in the sanitation works, added Solcan. He said that once the modern equipment is purchased, the additional employment of workers will not be necessary.
