Chisinau City Hall insists to pay debt to Termocom in installments
The Chisinau City Hall insists to pay its debt of 148 million lei to heat supplier Termocom in installments, although the Economic Court obliged the municipality to pay the whole amount. According to a schedule made up by the City Hall, it will pay 70 million till the year-end, by 25 million in the first two months of 2009, and other 23 million in March, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The head of legal direction of the City Hall, Diana Gurschi, told the Hall's staff meeting Monday that “the municipality recognizes its debt, and through conciliation deal forwarded to Termocom, the direction wants to avoid paying the state tax, in order not to prejudice the municipal budget.”
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca says “the debt is impelled, it's not a real debt, since Termocom's expenditures were much less in 2007 and the company even got profits.” Dorin Chirtoaca says those 70 million lei promised by the Government have not got into the City Hall's account.
When asked by Info-Prim Neo, Termocom's spokeswoman Raisa Popa has said the company will later voice its view. Asked about the prospects of delivering heat to the Chisinau apartments, after the Chisinau Municipal Council fail to keep its word to raise the heat charge, the spokeswoman has said “all depends on the Moldovagaz administration.”
Moldovagaz has not made public its decision yet.
