The City’s Day celebrations on October 14 will start with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and with a service at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” . The holiday will be opened officially by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who will give a congratulation speech in the Great National Assembly Square at 11.00, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the City Hall.
Exhibitions of paintings, graphic works, handicrafts, books, and flowers and the asphalt drawing contest “Chisinau in the Children’s View” will be staged in square of the Metropolitan Cathedral and in the central park of Chisinau during the day.
At 12 noon, the district head’s offices will present a holiday program, while at 14.00, the Bucharest Theater “Masca” will give a performance. At the same hour, a ceremony to award elderly people, school and university students with special results achieved in science, medicine, culture and sport will take place at the Organ Hall.
A concert will start in the Great National Assembly Square at 17.00. It will involve the Advahov Brothers and Zinaida Julea, Mihai Ciobanu, the Osoianu sisters, Igor Cuciuc, Aliona Moon, Pasha Parfeni, the bands Akord, Carla's Dreams andSun Stroke Project. The foreign invitee is Romanian singer Andra.
A fireworks display will take place at 23.30.
The next day, on October 15, there will be opened a contest exhibition of photos themed “Chisinau yesterday and tomorrow” at the Center for Children and Youth “Politehnic”.
On October 18, at 18.00, a performance of the works of composer Oleg Negruta will start at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”.
On October 23, at 23.00, Anastasia Lazariuc and her invitees will give a jubilee concert titled “Blue Evening” at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”.
