A casino located in Botanica district of Chisinau caused damage of over 1 million lei to the state budget. It was closed following the identified irregularities, IPN reports.

According to the Chisinau Police Division, the casino worked without a license and a cash register. The owner didn’t have documents for the gambling machines to prove that they were tested and from where they were acquired. The casino paid no taxes and thus caused damage of 1.1 million lei to the state budget.

A criminal case was started over illegal entrepreneurial activity and tax evasion. The casino owner faces a fine of 60,000 to 100,000 lei or up to six years in jail.
