Chisinau appellate court to hear AMN's plea to open more polling stations abroad

The Chisinau Court of Appeals today at 4:00 pm is to examine a request by the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Party to set up additional polling places abroad. According to AMN, this is the first time that the the matter of the right to vote for the Moldovans abroad has been brought before a court, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press release, AMN said that the party appealed to the court in order to ensure the right to vote for the Moldovans abroad because the Central Election Commission has been reluctant to consider AMN's proposal to establish additional poling stations overseas: five in Romania, three in Italy, three in Russia, three in Ukraine, one in Ireland, and two in Portugal. “We believe that everyone must show solidarity with our compatriots abroad in the battle for this right, bearing in mind these people's contribution to saving the country from a socioeconomic collapse, the likelihood of which has been amplified by a corrupt and ineffective government”, the press release reads.
