The Chisinau airport outstrips the Iasi airport in terms of the number of passengers, IPN reports, with reference to topiași.ro. The airport in Chisinau last month was transited by over 500,000 passengers, while the one in Iasi by 221,000, by 11.4% less than in August 2023.

30% of the traffic registered in Iasi headed for countries from outside the Schengen area, with 64,000 passengers going to Turkey, Egypt and other non-Schengen countries. As school started in September, and charter flights will be substantially reduced, the monthly traffic in Iasi could decrease even more, noted the quoted source.

The Iasi airport is also surpassed by the airport in Otopeni, where traffic in August was 1.6 million passengers. The airport in Chisinau comes second, being followed by the Cluj airport, with 355,000 passengers last month.
