Chirtoaca about Dodon: He wanted to enter City Hall, but is on the way to prison

The Communist Party’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon falsified the Official Gazette of Romania and presented false evidence about the purchase of trolleybuses by the Chisinau City Hall to the Prosecutor’s Office, Dorin Chirtoaca said in a news conference on Friday. The Liberal candidate for mayor stated that he will file complaints against Dodon to the court and the Prosecutor’s Office, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Igor Dodon presented a false document. He took the original of the Official Gazette of September 25, 2008, No. 53/24. He cut a part of page 12, skipped over page 13 and cut a half of page 14 and a part of page 15. He joined all these pieces together and made his own Official Gazette,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
According to the PL’s candidate, Igor Dodon faces jail for forgery and presentation of false data to the law enforcement bodies and for misleading and manipulating public opinion. “He wanted to enter the City Hall, but is on the way to prison. Do you want a swindler to become mayor? He must be held accountable. I will see if he has the courage to take part in debate programs together with me,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
He also said he will demand that the given case be investigated and will seek damages to the equivalent value of 100 trolleybuses from Igor Dodon for attempt to damage his professional reputation, honor and dignity. “He should sell his collection of luxury cars and buy trolleybuses for the residents of Chisinau. The trolleybuses now cost €12.5 million. We will see how much they cost when the sentence is passed,” said Chirtoaca.
Under the Penal Code, to which Dorin Chirtoaca made reference, forgery in public documents is punished with a fine from 10,000 lei or imprisonment of up to two years, while forgery in statements – with a fine from 30,000 lei or a year behind bars. Those who make use of forgery are liable to a fine of 15,000 lei or two years in jail. Chirtoaca said Igor Dodon should be held accountable in Romania as well, for forging the Official Gazette of this country.
