Chinese Embassy in Chisinau donates porcelain exhibits

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Chisinau donated 13 Chinese porcelain exhibits to the Ministry of Culture, presented in an exhibition at the National Art Museum of Moldova.

Minister Sergiu Prodan mentioned that the exhibits, which are worth about 50,000 lei, will be included in the Gifts Register. Subsequently they could be offered to public museums or the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, as teaching material.

All exhibits come from the Jizhou Furnace Museum in the Chinese province of Jiangxi, and between December 8, 2023 and January 10, 2024, they were exhibited at MNAM, as part of the first exhibition of artistic works from China in Moldova.

Jizhou kilns have a history of over 1,200 years, with their manufacturing techniques passed down from generation to generation.

One of the most famous pieces also arrived at the Ministry of Culture – the Tianmu open bowl with tree leaf, with natural decoration under the inner enamel, made of mulberry leaf. The ripples in the bowl full of water give the sensation of a leaf floating above. The donation also included the Lucky Plate, the Song of the Cicadas in the Mulberry Forest, other bowls, vases and unique, handmade dishes.
