Moldova’s rapid and blitz youth chess championship was held last weekend. International master Nikita Morozov, who scored 8.5 points out of 9 possible, became rapid chess champion. Andrei Macovei won the title of Under 18 champion, while Ivan Skitsko emerged victorious in the Under 16 category, IPN reports.
In the women’s competition, Felicia Ojog scored 6 points out of 7 possible, becoming Under 20 champion at only 13. The winners in the other age categories were Paula Mocanu and Valeria Mocanu.
Master Ivan Skitsko, 15, became blitz chess champion with 9 points out of 9 possible. In the women’s competition, gold was won by Valentina Verbin with 6 points out of 7 possible.
