Moldova’s Ion Skitsko has won the international junior chess tournament Botvinnik Cup that was held in Moscow, IPN reports.
Skitsko scored six victories and tied four matches, scoring 8 points out of 10 possible. Azat Nurmamedov of Turkmenistan ranked second with 7.5 points, while Russia’s Aram Vertisyan finished third with 7 points.
In the Under-14 women’s competition, Valentina Rotaru scored 3.5 points and ranked ninth. Azerbaijan’s Govhar Beydullayeva emerged victorious with a maximum score. The tournament brought together chess players from 11 states.
