For the first time in Moldova, electricity prices will be differentiated according to the time of consumption. From 23:00 until 07:00, electricity will be cheaper. The condition in this case is that consumers must have smart meters with hourly recording, IPN reports.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation says that the differentiated prices will be applied from January 20 for consumers of both suppliers Premier Energy and Electricity Supply North (FEE Nord).
Thus, the new prices approved by ANRE establish two tariff ranges.
During peak hours (07:00 - 23:00), Premier Energy households will pay a tariff of 4.10 lei/kWh. The "night" price (23:00 and 07:00) will be 3.31 lei/kWh.
In the case of "FEE Nord", the "night" price for households will be 3.90 lei/kWh, compared to 4.68 lei/kWh between 07:00 and 23:00.
ANRE emphasizes that the application of this system is a right, not an obligation. Each consumer who has a meter with time-of-use registration can decide if he or she wants to benefit from differentiated prices.
"This measure supports those who want to manage their energy consumption efficiently and reduce the impact of their monthly bills. Those interested are urged to contact their energy supplier for details on how to implement the new system", a press release said.
