Cheaper flights to 50 destinations

Moldovans will be able to fly cheaper to as many as 50 destinations after the national flag carrier Air Moldova signed a cooperation agreement with the Romanian low cost airline Blue Air, Info-Prim Neo reports. Blue Air general manager Sherif Ussama and Air Moldova director Iulia Scorpan signed the agreement in Chisinau on May 26, with low cost fares to be available from June 15. Moldovan Transport Minister Anatol Salaru revealed that a new subdivision and a new terminal would be created at the Chisinau International Airport for low cost flights. “For years our citizens have been paying an extra 9 euros without being explained why. The Airport bought equipment which it never used. Today airport fees and taxes are 25 euros. After we launch low cost flights from the specially created terminal, taxes will be much lower. Obviously passengers won't be served food anymore. But people choose planes because it's a fast way to travel, and not because they can eat on them”, said Anatol Salaru. The Minister went on to add that until a new terminal is opened, Bucharest will serve as an intermediate stop-over point, where passengers from Chisinau will take a Blue Air aircraft, without paying any additional fee, just with the ticket bought in Chisinau. Salaru also said that Blue Air in parallel aims to attract passengers from CIS who stop over in Chisinau.
