Illicit enrichment and false statements charges have been dropped against Superior Council of the Judiciary members Dorel Musteață and Nina Cernat. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said the investigated actions have been found not to amount to a crime.
Investigations were started after a brief issued in January 2020 by the Security and Intelligence Service was leaked to the media. The brief was informing the now suspended Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo that Musteață and Cernat might possess property and other assets that significantly exceeded their declared income.
The decision to drop the charges may be appealed with the superior prosecutor within 15 days.
