The Central Election Commission (CEC) will request the Chisinau City Appeals Court to consider annulling the registration of Vitalie Balinschi as the Shor Party’s candidate for MP in the new parliamentary elections that will take place in single-member constituency No. 38 Hâncești on March 15, IPN reports.
According to the CEC, the decision was taken following the examination of an application submitted by the Liberal Party, which notified of violations of the legislation committed by the Shor Party in the campaign prior to the new parliamentary elections in Hâncești. These refer to the use of undeclared financial resources and tangible assets in the organization of transportation of voters for electoral purposes.
The CEC will also ask the Prosecutor General’s Office to examine this case so as to determine if it didn’t contain voter corruption elements.
The Shor Party’s leader Ilan Shor described the CEC’s decision as unpleasant news for him and for his party mates and as a ‘scarecrow’ of Dodon. He noted that this is a political decision and it will be challenged.
