CEC accredited nearly 50 international observers
The number of international observers that will monitor the general local elections exceeds 50, after the Central Election Commission accredited at Thursday’s meeting another 46 observers on behalf of several international organisations.
According to a media release, CEC has accredited 16 international observers on behalf of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), 11 national observers from the Civil Society European Academy and 19 national observers representing the first Club of the Council of Europe.
Within the same meeting, the Commission completed the Regulations regarding the activity of the District Election Councils and amended the Regulations regarding the establishment of order while receiving documents by drawing lots by representatives of parties, of other social-political organisations, electoral blocs and unaffiliated candidates for the registration with the electoral bodies.
Thus, it was briefly specified that the District Council of I/II level will decide on date, place, time and person responsible for receiving the set of documents with a view to registering electoral competitors for the electoral race. The interval between the approval of such a decision and beginning to receive documents must be two days at least. At the same time, in case of elections for the position of mayor and councillors, when more than one concurrently submits the documents, the drawing of lots to establish order for submitting files is performed for each elective function.
CEC also confirmed the member representatives holding the right of consultative vote in the Central Election Commission on behalf of 5 political parties and the persons in charge of finances during the period of election campaign on the part of 7 parties – electoral competitors.
At the same time, there were approved the model documents drawn up by the electoral bureaus of polling stations and by District Election Councils at the general local elections set for 3 June, and models of invitations to voting, of badges for members of electoral bureaus of polling stations, of observers accredited to the electoral bodies and of their interpreters.
