CCECC annihilated a criminal group which stole a carpet and two cakes
The Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption (CCECC) has initiated penal proceedings on the case of stealing through criminal methods a “Floare” carpet and two cakes from “Franzeluta” enterprise.
According to a press release of CCECC from “15.09.06”, those two cakes and the carpet were stolen by a criminal organization, the members of which were stealing goods from different institutions, presenting themselves as employees of CCECC. According to the cited source, the criminal group was headed by a convict from Pruncul penitentiary, who “with the help of mobile telephony was guiding his accomplices from the outside”.
In the press release is mentioned that “the cakes were stolen without paying MDL 400 for each, so that a convict, an ex-head of the criminal world could celebrate his birthday. As well, a carpet, brought illegally in his cell was found. The employees of the Center found in the possession of the convicts drugs, marijuana.
CCECC specifies that during several months of 2006 the officers of Center’s Internal Security Department received several messages that certain persons were presenting themselves as employees of CCECC and “through fraud were taking alimentary goods, construction materials and others”. These activities were guided by Vladimir Costea, a convict from Pruncul penitentiary, who is at his 5th conviction for committing several felonies.
Over the past three months the pseudo-employees of the Center, Mereacre Leonid aged 37, Mereacre Vitalii aged 21, both with criminal records, Cebotari Viorel and Plamadeala Adrian aged 23, Plamadeala Elena aged 24 and Maimescu Tatian, 22 years old committed a series of offences. About 20 penal investigations were initiated on these cases. The suspects were arrested at the end of July and at present they stay in the temporary detention institution of the Center.
According to the press release, when CCECC was formed, its leadership laid stress upon the image of the institution and credibility of the society. In this context, the same press release emphasizes its priority tasks “prevention, prophylaxis and counteract of the cases of discipline and corruption among the employees of the Center, protecting their honor and image”.
