Public policy expert Ștefan Gligor said the en masse resignation of the members of the Constitutional Court is a start for restructuring and reorganizing the judicial system and for rehabilitating the CC, IPN reports.

“The Constitutional Cour posed a threat to any laws adopted by the new parliamentary majority as they could have been theoretically annulled by these players who showed in time that they were politically biased towards the Democratic Party,” Ștefan Gligor stated in a program on TVR Moldova channel. He voiced hope that the next constitutional judges will not be politically affiliated and will not have any kind of political obligations.

The Party of Socialists’ jurist Fadei Nagachevski said that political will is first of all needed to exclude political influence. But the en masse resignation of the CC judges is not an event for him now. This would have been an event if it had occurred before June 7, when the parliamentary majority was formed. “After June 7, 2019, this is not even an act of courage. They discredited themselves and spoiled the reputation of the Republic of Moldova at international level. Their resignation had been awaited for two weeks,” he stated.

Former MP Valentin Dolganiuc said the CC judges’ decision to quit is not their own decision. This was again taken under the influence of the political class and under the influence of foreign pressure. “As the current parliamentary majority was formed under pressure, this was a decision of the great powers, not an internal decision. The same is true about this decision,” stated the ex-MP.

On June 26, the Constitutional Court judges resigned en masse. Judge Veaceslav Zaporojan remained as the Constitutional Court’s caretaker president to handle administrative affairs until the relevant authorities appoint replacements.
