Casting for “2 438 km” will take place in September

The casting for the movie “2 438 km or all the roads go to Rome” will be held in September. The movie will be made by next spring, director Sergiu Prodan told Info-Prim Neo. Shooting will last for about 45 days. The actors will be exclusively from Moldova. The budget of the movie is €500,000. Half of the sum will be provided by the three production houses involved in the project. The other part will be collected from contributions. About €10,000 has been gathered so far. “The collected sum is not large, but is very important to us. Donations were made by ordinary people, civil servants, and teachers. Only Minister of Culture Boris Focsa contributed money among the authorities,” Sergiu Prodan said. According to the director, funds started to be raised not out of despair or lack of money, but because of the wish to develop the movie distribution mechanism in Moldova. “Moldova lacks a movie distribution mechanism, while the movie theaters “Patria” show mainly Hollywood pictures and cannot contribute to the distribution of the “2 438 km”,” Sergiu Prodan said. This collection of funds can be regarded as a pre-sale. “The persons who donate money will be waiting impatiently for the launch of the film because they are mainly co-producers of the movie,” said the director. The movie is about three teachers from a Moldovan village who set off for Rome. Hidden in fake coffins, they were stopped at the border with Austria.
