The money transferred from abroad to private individuals in Moldova through licensed banks in December 2017 came to US$ 106.22 million, up 13% on December 2016. In the course of 2017, the cash transfers totaled US$ 1.199,9 billion, an increase of 11.2% on a year before, IPN reports.
According to the data presented by the National Bank of Moldova on its website, last December the transfers in favor of private individuals came from three areas: the EU (33.8%), the CIS (33.2%) and the rest of the world (33%).
The transfers from Russia accounted for 31.8% of all the transfers (US$33.7m), down 4.4% compared with December 2016. The transfers from Israel represented 18.1% (US$19.2m), from Italy – 11.1% (US$11.8m), from the U.S. – 8.9% (US$9.4m), from Germany – 5% (US$5.3m), from the UK – 4.5% (US$4.8m) and from France – 2.9% (US$3.08m).
The remittances in US dollars made up 48.1%, up 2.9% compared with December 2016, in euros – 44.4% (up 5.5%), while in Russian rubles – 7.5% (down 2.6%).
