The number of cases of late detection of tuberculosis will be reduced by 10% by the end of 2018, according to the plan for consolidating the phthisiopneumology service. Also, 60% of the persons with drug-sensitive TB will receive treatment in ambulatory conditions, in community centers that will be opened in all the districts. Now there are only ten such centers, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Health.

According to official reports, 40% of the cases of TB are detected late. The Ministry of Health aims to cover the prices of medications administered for removing side effects caused by tuberculosis treatment. The gastrointestinal diseases, joint pain and memory loss are the most frequent side effects.

Over 3,500 people with TV were under supervision in Moldova last year. The disease caused almost 400 deaths. TB beats HIV as the leading infectious disease cause of death worldwide.
