Cases of corruption in internal affairs system can be reported through hotline 1520

The cases of corruption can be reported trough the hotline 1520 managed by the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A number of 140 calls have been received so far this year and 39 of them referred to the commission of acts of corruption. Active corruption was most frequently reported, the Service’s head Dorin Vrednic said in a response to a request made by IPN News Agency.

On weekdays, from 08:00 a.m. until 05:00 p.m., calls are received by officers of the Anticorruption Division on duty. Outside working hours, calls are received by the robot. Subsequently, they are listened to and recorded in a logbook by an operator in the early hours of the next day.

The recording, storage and use of personal data is in strict accordance with the legislation in force. Likewise, the confidentiality of the information received through this system is strictly regulated.

Dorin Vrednic noted that the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service reiterates the openness to have a dialogue with the civilian population and to provide relevant information, within the limits of the functional responsibilities and the provisions of the related legal framework.

The anticorruption hotline 1520 was created on August 8, 2014 by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
