Only together, the Moldovan citizens who are inside and outside the country can find efficient solutions to ensure Moldova’s progress on the path democracy, human rights, responsibility and prosperity, Ala Mandacanu, head of the Moldovan Community in Quebec, said in a training seminar entitled “Communication and social entrepreneurship in the diaspora”, experience of Canada. The seminar is held at the Moldova Free International University (ULIM) during June 5-15, IPN reports.
Ala Mandacanu said that as a former dean of the ULIM Faculty of Communication and Journalism and as a member of Moldova’s Parliament in 1994-2001, she wanted to share her nine-year Canadian experience. The diaspora became an important phenomenon in the political and social life and this thing was more evident in the presidential elections of 2016.
According to her, the diaspora, as the whole Moldovan society, is in a period of transition and is looking for solutions. The participants in the event – students, lecturers and journalists – should share their experience, knowledge, frustrations and hopes. The seminar is interactive, with Canadian views on the education and training process.
“Good communication means permanent contacts and empathy – thoughts for the one with whom one interacts – as this feeling most often is absent here, in society. I would try to somehow bring the journalist closer to the community, the community closer to the state, the state closer to the citizen and so on,” stated Ala Mandacanu.
The training seminar will continue on June 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15. This centers on such topics as social management and communication, manipulation in communication and ways of avoiding this, state-citizen communication in Canada; community communication; communication between the press and civil society, etc.
The Diaspora Engagement Hub Program with is subprogram “Diaspora Professional Return” is implemented by the International Organization for Migration in Moldova in partnership with the Bureau for Diaspora Relations within the project “Consolidating Moldova’s Migration and Development Institutional Framework” that is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
