The calls will be answered much swifter through the single emergency call system 112. The issue was discussed in pubic consultations on the bill concerning this service.
According to studies, 90% of the length of the phone conversations when emergency services are called goes on the identification of the place of the accident or other emergencies. Furthermore, the person in a crisis situation loses time for correctly identifying the needed emergency service and mixes up the numbers of these services. Thus, the necessary assistance is provided with delay, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the ICT Ministry.
“The 112 system identifies the phone number and address of the caller and transmits all the data to the police, ambulance service or firefighting service, depending on the case. The single number 112 will be interconnected with the existing information system and will enable to promptly verify the data,” said Deputy ICT Minister Vitalie Tarlev.
The bill concerning the single emergency call number 112 was submitted to the public authorities for endorsement. The creation of the single emerge service is stipulated in the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU. The single emergency call system 112 works in all the EU member states and is available round-the-clock.
