The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) calls on the people to support the national producers. On November 14, the party launched an interactive campaign entitled “Support Moldovan products you too” in the center of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The party placed a stand in the form of an apple at the intersection of the streets Armeneasca and Stefan cel Mare, where the passerby can write the products they prefer on a list. The members of the party will analyze the people’s preferences and will determine which products are the most popular. There were also brought a number of boxes with apples to show solidarity with the producers. According to the organizers, the apple, which is the party’s electoral symbol, is a symbol of Moldova representing health and welfare.

“We launched this campaign in a move to propagate the idea that we must eat what we produce or produce what we eat. This way we will support the local producers. Our farmers leave their land and assets and go abroad to earn money and then send home this money, which is afterward spend in countries from where products are imported,” said the first deputy head of the PPRM Valeriu Cosarciuc.

The politician also said that agriculture must be the driving force of the Moldovan economy. For this to happen, a number of actions are needed to support the farmers. “We come with a concrete program to create peasant banks for the people to be able to take out cheap loans. We propose that the peasants in every village should have representatives at rural agricultural chambers so that they receive consultancy and are furnished with the necessary information,” stated Valeriu Cosarciuc. He added that the party aims to create a loan guarantee fund for farmers and to draft a law in this respect.

The PPRM is under No. 12 in the ballot for the November 30 parliamentary elections.
