The Cabinet endorsed the draft state budget law for 2025. Revenues are estimated at 71.5 billion lei, an increase of almost 7% compared to 2024. Expenditure is projected to total 85.5 billion lei, and the deficit will amount to 13.8 billion lei or 4 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, IPN reports.
Minister of Finance Victoria Belous said the revenues forecast for 2025 are largely based on higher tax revenue. Value Added Tax will remain the most important source of revenue. Revenues of 36.4 billion lei are forecast from it.
A GDP of 348 billion lei, an economic growth of 3% and an average annual inflation of 4.6% are forecast for next. Exports will increase by 9%, while the average monthly salary in the economy – by 12.16%.
The minister noted that a 10% pay raise for teachers is planned. The salary of the staff subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the national penitentiary system and the National Probation Inspectorate will also increase. For medical staff, a 15% pay raise is projected.
The minimum salary in the public sector will increase from 5,000 to 5,500 lei. The minimum old-age pension will grow to 3,300 for people with a full contribution period of 40 years.
For the first time, students of the fifth-ninth grades will be fed at school free of charge starting with September 1, 2025.
The draft state budget law for 2025 is to be examined and adopted by the Parliament.
