On April 1, pensions will be indexed by 6%. This coefficient will be applied to the part of the pension that does not exceed the amount of the average monthly salary in the economy forecasted for 2024 (13,700 lei). Also, social insurance benefits and some of the state social welfare will be indexed by 6%. The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a draft decision to this effect, IPN reports.
“As a result of today's decision, old-age pensions will increase by an average of 249 lei. The average old-age pension will amount to 3,926 lei after indexation. This is an increase of 90% compared to January 1, 2021,” said Minister of Labour and Social Protection Alexei Buzu.
The minimum old-age pension will be 2,778 lei. If the amount of the pension calculated according to the law is lower than the amount of the minimum pension for the category concerned, the difference between these amounts, in the form of a solidarity supplement, will be covered with state budget funds. The solidarity supplement is a non-indexable component of the pension. Its amount varies annually depending on the indexation and augmentation of the calculated pension and the evolution of the minimum pension.
The minimum disability pension will be 2,083.40 lei for severe disability, 1,944.50 lei for accentuated disability and 1,388.93 lei for moderate disability.
Starting with April 1, all pensions set/reviewed under the Law on the Public Pension System, pensions for seniority, pensions of civil servants, customs officers, military pensions, capitalized periodic and monthly payments, as well as the set disability allowances and others will be indexed by 6%. Also, social insurance benefits and some of the state social welfare will be indexed by 6%.
