As of September 1, 2018, the Transnistrian regime obtained more than the right to get neutral-design license plates that allow for access to international traffic, considers Sergiu Gaibu of Expert-Grup. The expert in economy noted that this concession, which was announced as a victory on the left side of the Nistru, was made without a symmetric move from the other side. According to him, the opponents of Chisinau will use this tendency to obtain independence and sovereignty in the telecommunications and financial flows.

Sergiu Gaibu has also a plausible explanation as to why the Moldovan authorities accepted such a formula.

President Igor Dodon was as explicit. He considers the legislation allows him to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections on the list of the PSRM without leaving office of President. According to him, the legislation does not envision the suspension of the President and of the Prime Minister from office for the period of the election campaign. The former Socialist leader (who is former only formally) is guided by the wish to help the PSRM to gain a majority of seats of MP because a President cannot efficiently fulfil his duties without the support of a parliamentary majority. Is something like this possible? The IPN Experts are at least skeptical in this regard.

President Dodon made the given statement after the meeting of the National Council of the Party of Socialists, where it was reported that the party collected over 700,000 signatures in favor of modifying the system of government and switching over from parliamentary republic to presidential republic. The Council also adopted a resolution saying the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova is the only party that acts in the interests of the absolute majority of Moldovan people and the only alternative to the government of the Euro-unionists who ruled for nine years.

The bankers in Moldova, who prefer to keep their money at the National Bank than to lend it to the economy, look less enthusiastic. The balance of loans in the economy at the end of this June was by 2.8% lower than at the end of last June, totaling 37.5 billion lei. The banks prefer to keep the money in Central Bank Certificates or to place it in state securities.

To counteract these, only yesterday a group of veterans of the Nistru armed conflict issued a statement whereby they express their dissatisfaction with the fact that the National Union of Veterans of the War for the Independence of the Republic of Moldova awarded the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor, who was convicted by the ordinary court, an Insignia of Honor. The awarding diploma was signed by the Union’s president Mihai Balan, who, as the veterans said, does not represent them.

The shortage of cooks and not only at the kindergartens in Chisinau persists. Eleven kindergartens in the municipality of Chisinau stopped work on a temporary basis owing to the shortage of cooks and because the repair works there haven’t been yet finished. Furthermore, the municipal kindergartens need over 380 educators, but only 31 teachers who recently graduated from higher and vocational teacher training education institutions accepted to work in kindergartens.
