Even if they mimicked signs of institutional communication, the Presidential Office and the Government place obstacles to each. President Igor Dodon sent a letter to Prime Minister Pavel Filip by which he informed that he does not accept the two candidates for minister of health, labor and social protection and for minister of agriculture, regional development and environment. In reply, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said this refusal is a new violation of the Constitution and they will go to the Constitutional Court and ask that this institutional blockage on the part of the President be solved.
Even in such unfavorable conditions, the EU’s “caravan” goes on. The central public administration will benefit from three projects that form part of the financing agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union for the program of support for the public administration reform under which €15 million in technical assistance will be provided. The projects will center on the consolidation of the institutional capacities and human resources of the local and central public authorities in working out, implementing, monitoring and assessing policies and in improving the quality of public services in accordance with the expectations and needs of the people.
Probably because of the rivalry in the pre-electoral period, the Socialist and Democratic MPs explain the GDP growth differently. The Socialists consider the 5.2% growth in the second quarter of this year was due to the re-export of goods and to remittances, while the Democrats say this was possible owing to the rise in production. In a televised confrontation, Democratic MP Sergiu Sârbu said a substantial rise was witnessed in the production sector, in agriculture, in the IT sector. His Socialist opponent Grigore Novac believes yet the GDP grew owing to the re-export of goods and to remittances amid the dramatic decrease in investments due to the lack of trust in justice and of shortage of skilled labor force.
The Moldovans, who usually witness abundance in homes in the “golden winter”, are informed about the abundance of events devoted to the European Heritage Days that will take place in 64 communities of 18 districts during September 24-28. The organized activities will center on the protection of historical monuments, archeological sites, art collections and traditional handicrafts and will offer the possibility of actively becoming involved in the safeguarding of the heritage.
The European Heritage Days have been celebrated annually in about 50 countries since 1999 on the initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union.
The 330th anniversary of the printing of the Bible in the Romanian language is a rather important event for all the Romanians. In connection with the anniversary, the National Library mounted an exhibition of bibles at the Book Museum. Among the exhibits is the Bible of 1580 in the old Slavic language whose copies remained few in number in the world. There was also displayed the reproduced Bible of 1688 in Romanian that became part of the National Library’s collection owing to a donation, the original being kept in Bucharest, and the original of the Bible of 1819 in Romanian, which was printed in St. Petersburg during the time of Metropolitan Bishop Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni.
The theatrical season was opened in Chisinau in an exceptional way, by the fourth Romanian National Theater Reunion that involves 12 national theaters of Moldova and Romania. The event marks the 100th anniversary of the Great Union and is taking place during September 19-30. Director of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” of Chisinau Petru Hadârcă in the official opening of the event said the festival this year is a very important one, being dedicated to the Union Centenary, and all the plays that will be staged within the current edition were written by Romanian writers.
Concomitantly, initiatives that would ensure the sustainable development of the city and would promote green energy started to be collected in the municipality of Chisinau as part of the project “Strategic Planning - Chisinau - Green City” (Green City Action Plan). Alongside deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, the Head of the EBRD Office in Moldova Angela Sax said Chisinau City is a green one, but should be even greener. This means being an eco-friendly city. “Chisinau, as other cities, faces many problems related to the environment: the air is polluted, there are traffic jams and there is insufficient free space. Today we launch an important initiative that is aimed at supporting the sustainable development of the city.”
