In a special edition on NTV channel, President Igor Dodon said the Russian Federation could offered the Republic of Moldova US$ 1 billion for repairing roads. Only based on a discussion with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Igor Dodon promised massive support for infrastructure projects and the annulment of customs duties on the export of a series of Moldovan agricultural products, mainly apples, grapes, cherries (that are lost if they are not picked up in January – July, as Păcală would say), cans and wine, to Russia for a period of half a year, between January 1 and July 1, 2019.
As the uninitiated ones remained surprised, the IPN Experts noted Igor Dodon started again to make promises, saying that only the victory of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 can shape the pro-Moldova project.
According to them, such behavior is already outdated and in a state of degradation. The idea is Igor Dodon, before the parliamentary elections of November 30, 2014, also promised to solve the problem of Moldovans working in Russia and that Moldova would join the Customs Union. For the citizens to believe him, all over the country he set up electoral billboards showing him near President Vladimir Putin. As the PSRM didn’t win the parliamentary elections of 2014, Igor Dodon made exactly the same promises in two years, before the presidential elections of 2016.
Only after being elected President, Igor Dodon discovered that he does not have powers to deliver his promises and he learned about this from President Vladimir Putin on January 17, 2017.
Former minister of agriculture Valeriu Cosarciuc noted it is strange when a Head of State says the customs duties on exports to Russia will be abolished as of January 1, 2019, when these taxes should not actually exist given that the Republic of Moldova is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States. An agreement was signed within this community, with Russia, and this agreement envisions free trade between the Republic of Moldova and Russia.
According to him, the fact that Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the European Union was a reason for Russia to halt imports and to impose all kinds of bans and barriers, while the statements made by President Igor Dodon are nothing but a pre-electoral bubble.
Bingo! The candidate in single-member constituencies will be the driving force for the national list in the upcoming parliamentary elections. For this reason, the future electoral bloc ACUM will make effort to field candidates in all the single-member districts. The legal form of the bloc allows for cooperation between the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA), but other political parties can provide candidates who will go through the bloc’s filters. The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Liberal Party (PL) intend to join the bloc ACUM, but they haven’t yet taken a final decision to this effect.
Better late than never: MPs Tudor Deliu and Lilian Carp submitted an application to the Constitutional Court by which they requested to analyze the new budgetary-fiscal policy proposed by the Government. This envisions tax and customs concessions for duty-free sales on the country’s territory or at the entrance to the country.
The idea of opening duty-free gas stations at Moldova’s border crossing points was formulated by the largest duty-free operator in Moldova “Dufremol” that is patronized by the family of the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor. The opposition considers this possibility is a favor done by the government to Ilan Shor, who runs duty-free shops and propagates the party through social stores.

Also, the riverbed of the Cahul River was rehabilitated for a segment of 3 km. The total cost of the project was almost €127,000, €70,000 of which was provided by the European Union, and the remaining amount was covered from the regional and community budgets.
In the case of the death of three children in Flocoasa village of Cantemir district, the commission of inquiry of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection established that the children suffered poisoning by vapors of the organophosphorus insecticide Valsafid. The insecticide was used by unauthorized and untrained persons, while the family members informed about the contact with the toxic substance only when they called an ambulance the second time.
The elections are coming and almost 100 kindergartens in Chisinau will receive new furniture by the end of this year and will have their roofs repaired. The Chisinau City Hall said 4.3 million lei will be used to purchase beds, tables and lockers for 81 kindergartens, while 2.6 million lei will go to repair the roofs of 18 kindergartens.
It will be better in Leova too! The district hospital was outfitted with precision medical supplies to the value of US$ 84,000 purchased with Japanese funds. Contacted by IPN, the hospital’s director Andrei Malashevski said there were donated five monitors for monitoring vital functions, video fibro-gastroscopy equipment and an immunology analyzer. Earlier the hospital was also donated an electrocardiograph and a spirograph purchased with Japanese funds.
“The equipment started already to be used and the number of patients rose from 70-80 to 120 a day,” stated the director.
