Memories of the black period of the Stalinist deportations of June 13, 1941 brought together dozens of people at the Train of Pain Monument in the Square of the Chisinau Railway Terminal. The event involved representatives of the Liberal Party. The party’s leader Dorin Chirtoacă said that in this black period of Bessarabia’s history they commemorate also the occupation of June 28, 1940 and the second wave of deportations of July 1949. “Almost 80 years have passed since we started to look for dignity, freedom and prosperity,” stated the politician.

President Igor Dodon said no federalization will exist in the Republic of Moldova as this is not real. He noted many of the published video recordings of the talks held by him and the chairman of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc were truncated. “I knew we were filmed. I knew who I was talking to. I know very well that Plahotniuc is capable of doing something like this,” he stated, adding he would have broken the law, if he had signed agreements or laws in this regard.

The leader of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Andrei Năstase, minister of the interior in the Sandu Government, said the plan for federalizing Moldova that was reportedly discussed by President Igor Dodon with the leaders of the Democratic Party. According to him, the Bloc ACUM will make sure that such a plan is never put into practice. “No one will dare and will manage to confront the Bloc ACUM over the status of unitary state of the Republic of Moldova. They scared us with “little green men” every time we mounted a protest against corruption, poverty, humiliation and suffering to which our country was subject.”

According to a study to assess the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU carried out by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, the justice sector reform is one of the biggest failures of the Moldovan authorities in relation to the commitments undertaken under the Association Agreement. This deviates from the requirements concerning transparency, involvement and participation of the interested sides. The sector is considerably affected by political influence. In the fiscal system, one of the objectives that should be achieved to fulfill the untaken commitment is to reduce the number of tax concessions. President Igor Dodon calls upon the people of Moldova to take part in a peaceful march in support of the new parliamentary majority and the new Government that will be staged in front of the Parliament Building on June 16. “The larger is the number of participants, the faster will we see the peaceful transit of power,” he stated. Answering journalists’ questions, Igor Dodon said the police are obliged to maintain public order at all the events.

The co-presidents of the political bloc ACUM are calling on their supporters to join in a march in Chisinau on Sunday in support of the new government. Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase advise the public to plan in advance, because “obstacles will be created for sure for those who will want to join”.
“I call on Chisinau residents, I call on the suburbanites, let us demonstrate dignity, courage and determination. I call on you to join us. Let the People’s March begin,” declared Andrei Năstase.

There is one legitimate Government in Moldova, and this is the one elected by Parliament on June 8, as recognized by a number of Western governments as well as Russia, says Kálmán Mizsei, former Special Representative of the European Union to Moldova. “Clearly the time for choosing the Government did not expire, for two reasons. One, the Constitution of Moldova speaks about three months after the elections, and not 90 days. The Constitutional Court, which is in the backpocket of the usurpers, has arbitrarily misinterpreted this provision,” stated the expert.

Vadim Brînzan, minister of economy in the Sandu Cabinet, is warning that reports exist about past and ongoing embezzlement at state-owned companies, in both cash and offshore transactions. Brînzan has called a press conference to warn government representatives and managers of state-owned companies to refrain from any suspicious or illegal transactions, and relevant law enforcement agencies from failing to react, or face criminal punishment.
