“We encourage the government to implement OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) prior recommendations for Moldova that remain outstanding,” the U.S. Department of State says in a press release. Also, media outlets should provide equal access to all candidates and approach their coverage in a fair, balanced, and impartial manner, consistent with Moldova’s media laws. “Ultimately, we believe, the goal of all the parties and candidates is the same, ensuring a prosperous and democratic future for Moldova and its citizens. The United States will continue to help the Moldovan people achieve this goal,” runs the press release.
The National Liberal Party submitted the documents required for being registered as an electoral contender in the February 24, 2019 elections to the Central Election Commission. The list of candidates for MP includes 40 persons and is headed by the party’s leader Vitalia Pavlichenko.
The second place on the list is taken by ex-minister Alexandra Can, who is followed by the first president of the PNL, ex-MP Andrei Iuri-Apostol. The next on the lists are Gheorghe Furdui, who represents the community of Moldovans abroad, Sergiu Ioniță, who runs in Hâncești, PNL secretary general Ion Calmâc, who runs in Căușeni, Nicolae Bîrnaz, who runs in Drochia, head of the 1992 War Veterans Association Tiras-Tighina Anatolie Caraman and ex-commander of the volunteers in Grigoriopol town Alexei Mocreac.
The People’s Will Party filed the documents required for being registered as an electoral contender in the February 24, 2019 parliamentary elections to the Central Election Commission. According to the party’s president Ștefan Urîtu, the party decided to take part in the elections in order to help Moldova overcome the current situation. “We will become involved in this struggle in order to change the state of affairs and to ensure the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.
The Democratic Party (PDM) said it decided to send its analysis of the two 2019 parliamentary election monitoring reports issued by Promo-LEX Association so far to the diplomatic corps in the country, OSCE observers and direct backers of the association (USAID, Soros Foundation, Council of Europe and British Embassy in Chisinau).
“We consider these two reports by Promo-LEX, of November 2018 and January 2019, contain incorrect, unverified and truncated information and this leads to the conclusion that the election monitoring activity conducted by Promo-LEX is not at all objective,” the PDM says in a press release.
Vlad Kulminski, executive director of the Institute for Strategic Initiatives, said the government created all the conditions to win the upcoming elections in any situation. The recognition or non-recognition of these elections by the international partners and observation missions is now the only problem faced by the Moldovan government. “That report by Promo-LEX (e.n. the most recent report that was criticized by CEC member Iurie Ciocan) points to those departures or violations that were already committed and there were many such cases, about 300, including of offering of presents in the electoral period,” stated Vlad Kulminski. According to him, the government aims to restrict the presentation of such reports that reveal violations that can lead to the non-recognition of elections by the international partners.
The year 2018 was a successful one for the Moldovan diplomatic service. The Republic of Moldova was active at international level and in 2019 will only confirm and intensify the previous efforts, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovski stated in a festivity held to celebrate the Diplomat’s Day.

Presenting the Government’s report, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said people’s revenues were increased not by populist statements, but by changes and reforms that ensured balance in the system and he is proud of this.
He mentioned the governmental programs, including the program to purchase over 100 ambulances, the program “Fist House”, the campaign “A doctor for you”, PARE 1+1, DAR 1+3. The Premier said a constant economic growth of over 4% was ensured and this is one of the highest growth rates in the region.
