Three Moldovan boxers scored victories in the first competitions of the European Championships that are taking place in Minsk, Belarus, IPN reports. In the 75 kg class, Victor Carapcevschi beat Israel’s Artem Masily 3-0. With the same score, Vladimir Cheles defeated Jozsef Darmos of Hungary in the 91 kg class.
Petru Ciobanu (81 kg) won against Latvia’s Nikolajs Grisunins, while Piotr Apostol (60 kg) lost to Artjoms Ramlavs, also of Latvia.
Another six Moldovan boxers will enter the competitions the comings days. Among them is the leader of the national squad Veaceslav Gojan, who became European champion in 2011 and medaled bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Alexandr Riscan (52 kg) and Vasili Belous (69 kg), who took part in the London Olympic Games, are also rated as possible winners.
Moldova will be also represented by Dmitri Suhodolschi (-49 kg), Dmitri Galagot (64 kg), and Alexei Zavatin (+91 kg).
