Booths continue to sell banned oriental food in Botanica district

Oriental food (shaurma and kebab) in booths is still cooked in Botanica district of Chisinau municipality, despite the actions undertaken by authorities in order to ban this. Iurie Panzaru, the head of the Scientific-Practical Center of Preventive Medicine announced about this on Monday, at the ordinary meeting of the Mayoralty. Panzaru said that some booth owners sued the service of preventive medicine because of the “exaggerated fines” applied for breaking the legislation and sanitary norms. As retort, the interim Mayor, Vasile Ursu declared that the impertinence of the booth owners can be explained by the “highly placed “krysha” (protection)”, without offering any details about the persons who could protect these sorts of activities. Local authorities announced at the end of May, that all the booths that were selling oriental food and were seriously breaking the legislations and sanitary norms had been closed, as a result of several inspection-raids organized by the sanitary doctors together with city police. But the booths appeared again, some of them in the same places. Iurie Panzaru declared previously that finding out and halting the commercial activity of the commercial unities of this type is difficult because there always appear another booths. At the end of May, 76 unities selling alimentary products have been inspected, especially those selling kebab and shaurma. 92 breaches have been registered. The activity of 46 unities was suspended.
