Thirty book titles about the Kazakh history, literature and traditions will supplement the collection of the ABAIA Cultural Center that was inaugurated by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the National Library of Moldova, IPN reports.
Ambassador Almat Aidarbekov said the opening of the Cultural Center and the donated books will become an efficient source of knowledge for the National Library users who will want to know more about Kazakhstan. The diplomat said that Moldova is an important partner for Kazakhstan, which is home to over 20,000 Moldovan ethnics. “A constructive political dialogue persists between our states and the commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations are being developed,” stated the ambassador.
National Library director Elena Pintilei said the donation will supplement the ABAIA Cultural Center that the Embassy of Kazakhstan intended to open at the Library long ago. The Center will contain books that form part of the Library’s own collection. Five years ago, the National Library signed an agreement of cooperation with the National Library of Kazakhstan based on which an exchange of books was performed.
Marina Lașco, senior consultant at the Arts and Creative Industries Division of the Ministry of Culture, said that the Ministry of Culture and the minister welcome this donation. “It is a valuable contribution that can be used both by researchers and by the users of the library,” stated the functionary.
Today’s event was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Kazakhstan.
