Bomb hoax at Bălți Clinical Hospital

A man called the 112 Service on January 27 and said that there was an explosive device in one of the wards of the Bălți Clinical Hospital. A part of the personnel were evacuated, while the patients were transferred. But no suspect device was found as a result of searches.

Contacted by IPN for details, Mihaela Petrova, PR specialist of the Bălți Clinical Hospital, said the explosive was allegedly in the Emergency Admissions Department. “There were evacuated 19 healthcare workers and the relatives of patients. The patients in a serious state, who were in the red zone of the Department, were transferred to a free ward. At 10:36am, it was reported that it was a hoax. At 10:41am, all the employees returned to their workplaces. No one suffered,” stated Mihaela Petrova

The Bălți Police Inspectorate said the caller was identified swiftly. It is a resident of the municipality of Bălți aged 42.

The man faces a fine of 27,500 lei to 42,500 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to two years in jail.
