Bomb alert delays “Chisinau-Larnaca-Athens” flight
The passengers of the flight “Chisinau-Larnaca-Athens” experienced, on July 11, a nightmare after a male’s voice has announced the police about a bomb on the plane.
According to the MAI Press center, the warning was made at 20:20. For few hours, the services of Chisinau International Airport, as well as the teams of the Air Transport Police and technical-explosive department of a MAI checked in detail the airport and the plane, checked repeatedly the passengers and their luggage, without finding any explosive. After a 3-hour delay, the plane took off at 23:30.
In a few hours after the false alarm, the police detected the number of mobile phone from which the call was made, identifying its owner. A young man aged 19, inhabitant of the village Slobozia-Sirauti, Briceni district, was allegedly the one who made the phone call.
A penal case was open pursuant to the article 287, line1 of the Penal Code of Moldova, “hooliganism”. The young man risks a fine from 4,000 to 14,000 lei, unpaid work for the community from 120 to 240 hours or from 2 to 5 years imprisonment.
