The black boxes or flight recorders of the plane that crashed off the Ivory Coast on October 14 will be sent to Kyiv for being deciphered. The decision was taken as a result of a visit made by a group of experts of the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova to the scene, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the institution, the Antonov Factory of Kyiv has the equipment needed to decipher the black boxes and this will happen in about four weeks.

Based on the deciphered information and the data accumulated so far as a result of on-the-spot examinations, the authorities of the Ivory Coast will compile a preliminary report on the accident that will be finalized with the assistance of experts of the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova. These will travel again to the scene. After the preliminary report is presented, the Civil Aviation Authority will formulate a set of recommendations for companies that use Antonov aircraft.

Four Moldovan citizens were killed and two others were injured on October 14 when a cargo plane chartered by the French military crashed into the sea near the airport in Ivory Coast’s main city, Abidjan, during a heavy thunderstorm. There were 10 people aboard including six crew members, three French soldiers and a French civilian who worked for the aviation company.
