The Information Technology and Cyber Security Service warns citizens about an ongoing disinformation campaign conducted through instant messaging platforms, especially WhatsApp, IPN reports.
The “First Source”, a channel for verifying government information, noted that these messages seek to manipulate public opinion about the referendum and election.
Citizens are advised to block the sender, report the message as spam or abusive and not to distribute such messages.
“Get information only from official and reliable sources. Be vigilant online, verify information before you consider it truthful or sharing it. Protect your right to an informed and free choice,” “First Source” also said.
