Twelve laurates of the sixth Health Awards Gala got trophies at a festive ceremony that was held at a hotel in Chisinau on April 11. The best health professionals were chosen from among 60 teams and persons. For the first time, a new category was included in the list of nominations and this is “Performance and innovations in medicine”. The award in this category went to Doctor of Medical Sciences Larisa Krivchanskaya, head of the Newborns Intensive Care Section of the Mother and Child Institute, IPN reports.
Larisa Krivchanskaya said about 80% of the newborns treated in the section she heads are prematurely born children. The medical staff of the section shows affection to those children and give hope to their parents.
The trophy for entire medical career went to Doctor of Medical Sciences Grigore Bivol, who heads the Family Medicine Department of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Natalia Kerdivarenko, who has taught at the same university since 1951, was awarded for performance in teaching activity.
The team of the Family Doctor’s Office of Bălășești village of Sângerei district led by Elena Neaga was named the best family doctor’s team. The best management of a medical institution in 2018 was ensured by Valery Savchuk, director of the Forensic Medicine Center. According to him, they got the award because the whole personnel of the Forensic Medicine Center did huge work.
The team of the National Blood Transfusion Center was named the best team of medical assistants, while the Microsurgery Section of the Emergency Medicine Institute became the best team and, respectively, the best hospital section. This consists of nine specialist doctors and five resident doctors and is managed by university professor Anatolie Calistru. The doctor said his team protects the people’s health and makes Moldovan microsurgery famous abroad.
Sergiu Negritu, who heads the Economy and Finance Division of the National Health Insurance Company and Angela Voronin, who manages the State Treasury Division of the Ministry of Finance, were named the best team in promoting the mandatory health insurance system. The Coordination Unit of the national program for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases was awarded for the most successful activity in public health.
Minister of Health, Labor and Special Protection Silvia Radu admitted that there are shortcomings in the Moldovan health system and hard work is needed to ensure medicine meets the European standards. The health system can be improved only by the common effort of all those who are responsible for healthcare. The doctor’s image in society should be rehabilitated as the health professionals deserve it. “Regrettably, they are accused by the press and on social networking sites even if many of the doctors work consciously,” stated the minister.
The Health Awards Gala contest 2019 was held during March 01-25 this year. Each candidate was assessed by a specialty jury according to a number of performance criteria.
