The Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialist (BeCS) asks the Prosecutor General’s Office to verify the information about the external financing of the Party of Action and Solidarity that appeared on NewEurope.eu and calls on the Central Election Commission to ascertain the illegal external financing of this party, IPN reports.

 “The recent investigation conducted by journalists of the European publication NewEurope.eu is a documentary proof of the fact that a number of states illegally finance the election campaign of PAS. The document published on this portal, which is a leak from the secret and intelligence services of other states, shows that for the snap parliamentary elections, the PAS benefits from external financial support totaling €56 million. This is what was proven by documents that were made public, but the sum can be higher,” Socialist candidate for MP Grigore Novac stated in press briefing.

According to Grigore Novac, the investigation showed that millions of euros is invested in Moldovan NGOs whose goal is to promote PAS and to attack its political opponents through social media, in TV and radio programs. They attack not only BeCS, but also the PAS’ rivals from the right.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, PAS candidate for MP Radu Marian said the information presented by Grigore Novac is false and does not deserve public attention. “These are lies paid by Dodon and the Socialists with money stolen from the citizens for being disseminated. It is a website that publishes by order, while the article was written by an anonymous person. PAS is the first party that has financed itself correctly, with many and small donations. That’s why we became the most trusted party in the country. The Socialists and those who rule the country are in agony and invent all kinds of foolish things. Regardless of these foolish things, the people will vote on July 11 and will vote honest politicians in Parliament,” stated Radu Marian.

“We thank the 1,404 persons who donated, including in the current campaign. The millionaire thieves can do whatever they want. No challenge and no lie will stop the people in their wish to get rid of corruption and poverty and to vote on July 11“.
