The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) said the government hasn’t paid salaries to a part of the teachers since August. In a news conference, these noted there are risks that the authorities will close a number of schools, IPN reports.
MP Petru Burduja, deputy chairman of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance, said a number of teachers haven’t been paid salaries since August and the salary arrears for August-October total over 69 million lei. Parliament asked the Government to allocate the money needed to clear the given salary arrears.
Petru Burduja also said that the amounts overdue can be higher as the Ministry of Fiancé didn’t present accurate information. The reason can be the authorities’ intention to close a number of national education institutions. “The people wonder why 2.1 million lei for covering the costs of the Presidential Office was found without difficulties, while funds for the proper education of our children cannot be found,” stated the MP.
The head of Basarabeasca district Piotr Pușcari said in their district there are three schools that face a shortage of funds. The budget deficit of the secondary school in Iordanovca village adds up to 369,000 lei. The district council decided to seek support from the Government as they cannot cover this deficit themselves.
BCS MP Irina Lozovan noted that the budget deficit of ten schools in Ocnița district comes to about 2 billion lei. Seventeen education institutions in Dondușeni district lack financial resources for paying salaries totaling over 3 million lei.
