BCS proposes no-confidence motion. PAS says opposition wants to weaken state institutions

The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists submitted a no-confidence motion in today's Parliament sitting. It is signed by 26 MPs and accuses the Government of "being ready to sacrifice the national interests of the country, the well-being of citizens and the future of children in exchange for the applause and sympathy of foreign partners," IPN reports.

"Today, just like three years ago, the Republic of Moldova finds itself on the threshold of winter with a deep energy crisis, lacking clear policies and strategies to ensure the country's energy security and protect citizens from its harmful consequences," said Socialist MP Petru Burduja, presenting the motion.

According to him, in contradiction with the promises made and the proud arguments assumed at the investiture, the Government achieved practically nothing in the energy sector. On the contrary, the state of affairs worsened.

"The falsehood and manipulation skill of the PAS Government are doubled by the cynicism by which they treat the vital problems of citizens," the parliamentarian also said. He accused the government of making only pompous statements, and now the people have to bear the consequences of the its irresponsibility.

"We give a vote of no confidence to the Government of the Republic of Moldova led by Mr. Dorin Recean," Petru Burduja concluded.

Deputy Speaker Doina German, who chairs Thursday’s sitting, said that the draft motion will be sent to Parliament’s Secretariat to see if it meets the legal conditions for initiating the examination procedure in a plenary sitting.

"Through this no-confidence motion you are trying to weaken the state institutions, but we will clarify things with you when we debate this no-confidence motion," said the MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Radu Marian.

According to the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, a no-confidence motion can be proposed by at least 1/4 of the elected MPs. It shall be debated on the first day of the plenary session of the week following the date of submission. In order to be adopted, the no-confidence motion must be supported by a majority of MPs.
