The ballot for choosing councilors on the Comrat Municipal Council of Gagauzia in the June 14 local general elections will have the form of a brochure. Such a decision was taken in the June 2 meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC), IPN reports.

The Commission’s president Iurie Ciocan said that 79 candidates are running in the elections in Comrat and the ballot would be almost 2 meters long. Therefore, it was decided that the ballot will be printed in the form of a booklet. Each page will be numbered and the total number of pages will be indicated on the first page. The ballot will be gray in color.

CEC member Stefan Uratu suggested that a preformation should be made next to the name of each candidate so that the persons with visual impairments could count the positions and be able to vote individually, but his proposal wasn’t accepted given that uniformity should be kept at national level.

In the 2011 local elections, the ballot in Comrat was also in the form of a brochure. The race then involved 87 candidates.
