Chisinau Municipality's best students and veterans that have asserted themselves in education, culture, art, science, and other fields, were awarded with merit-based scholarships, during a ceremony on Friday, October 12, at the Organ Hall, reports Info-Prim Neo. Education, Youth, and Sports General Division head Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb stated that the awarding of merit scholarships has become a beautiful tradition. By offering scholarships, the Municipality aims at shedding a light upon people with high merits, and who promote our country's image. Scholarships were given to students from lyceums, gymnasiums, and sports and arts schools. The winners were students who achieved high GPAs throughout the academic year, or have won olympiads, as well as national and international contests. Of the 205 scholarships, about 20 were given to elderly people who managed to assert themselves in different fields. “Age is not an issue; people can promote themselves at any age. There are grade-school students among the winners, who stand out in different fields, as well as people up to the age of 80, who are the promoters of certain fields too”, mentioned the Division head. Among the veterans with scholarships are: scientist Demir Dragnev, biochemistry specialist Nicolae Balaur, “S. Lunchevici” Symphonic Orchestra soloist Nistor Topa, physician Valentina Apostol, etc. The scholarship awarding ceremony is at its 16th edition. Each scholarship is worth 1,000 lei.
