The Chisinau City Hall this year continues the tradition of providing financial support to long-lived couples and centenarians in gratitude for their stability, loyalty and contribution to the community. 621 long-lived couples and 8 people over 100 years old received financial assistance within a program dedicated to them, IPN reports.
To couples who marked 50 years of marriage, the City Hall offered 5,700 lei each to a total of 558 couples. Another 60 couples who celebrated 60 years of marriage received 7,500 lei each, and three couples with 70 years of marriage received 10,000 lei each.
In the case of centenarians, the City Hall provided financial support to the eight people who turned 100 to 105 years old. Each received 5,000 lei.
In total, the Chisinau City Hall allocated 6,700,600 lei. The event is part of an extensive program of care and respect for seniors, who, through their example, contribute to strengthening family values and solidarity in the community.
Also, the City Hall organizes various cultural events for the elderly throughout the year. Weekly, they are invited to musical performances organized within the "Dialogue between generations" project. The project, launched in Chisinau in June 2022, invites seniors to dance weekly to the rhythms of contemporary, traditional and popular music.
