Average wage in Moldova’s economy increased by 15%
In January-November 2006, the average monthly wage of an employee of the Moldovan economy (enterprises with 20 employees and above) constituted MDL 1,657.6 and increased by 29% compared with the similar period of last year (the real wage went up by 15%), the data of the National Statistics Bureau attests.
In the reference period, the average wage totalled MDL 1,432.8 in the budgetary sector, and in the private sector of the economy MDL 1,778.5.
In agriculture, hunting and forestry, the average wage constituted in the mentioned period MDL 832; in fishery – MDL 1079; industry – MDL 2,060; extracting industry – MDL 2,573; processing industry – MDL 1,898; Food industry – MDL 1,938; beverage industry – MDL 1,564; electric and thermal power, natural gases and water – MDL 2,819; constructions – MDL 2,370; retail and wholesale – MDL 1,460; hotels and restaurants – MDL 1,380; transportation and communications – MDL 2,507; financial activities – MDL 3,676; estate transactions – MDL 1,989; public administration – 2,105.
In education, the average wage in 11 months totaled MDL 1,210, increasing by 37% compared to the similar period of last year. Doctors and social assistants received an average wage of MDL 1,302, by 31.1 % more compared to the indices of the same period in 2005.
The average wage of an employee in November 2006 constituted MDL 1,875, by 29% more compared with November 2005. In the budgetary field the average wage constituted MDL 1,553, and in the private sector MDL 2,048.9.
