Next year, the average pension in the Republic of Moldova is expected to rise to 4,237 lei. From May 1, for people with a contribution period of 40 years, the minimum pension will increase to 3,300 lei. This is stipulated in the draft state social insurance budget law for 2025, which was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
Referring to the increase in the minimum pension for people with a 40-year contribution period, secretary of state of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection Corina Ajder said that it is an initiative of President Maia Sandu aimed at supporting pensioners who worked for a long period of time, but have a small pension.
Currently, the minimum pension is 2,778 lei for a standard contribution period.
The secretary of state said that the payments allocated for pensions grew by 11 billion lei compared to three years ago.
The draft state social insurance budget law for 2025 is estimated at 46.51 billion lei. The document is to be considered and passed by Parliament.
