Authorities dissatisfied wit decrease in crop production
Moldovan authorities are dissatisfied with the crop yields of fruits and vegetables that constituted last year 370.000t and 460.000t correspondingly.
In order to improve this situation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has worked out the Fruit Growing Development Programme until 2020, while for vegetable growing the plan is to be drawn up by the end of 2007. It is going to be a joint campaign along with actions on rehabilitation of irrigation systems, founding of packing facilities, small sized processing enterprises and specialised enterprises for purchasing produce.
Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev requested the improvement of the system of public acquisitions in the agricultural sector as well as creating an efficient mechanism for purchasing farm goods directly from the farmer as to satisfy the needs of governmental institutions in the educational, healthcare, and social protection sectors, etc.
According to prime-mister’s indications the specialised institutions will be responsible for working out within a month period of a new concept of improvement of the public acquisition system in agricultural sector and a specific plan to collect fruits and vegetables directly from the farmer, particularly in rural area.
There will be created seasonal produce markets in all the raions and municipalities of the republic that will work as consumer markets, where farmers could sell their goods without any mediators.
